Garden on the Wall® Set to Take Flight at Nashville International Airport

Fairfield, NJ – Garden on the Wall (GOTW) announced today that the firm’s most impactful garden installation has been unveiled at Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Nashville, Tennessee, as part of the Grand Opening of their new 200,000 square-foot Grand Lobby. Soaring above the check-in lobby and departures area, the impressive gardens span 105-feet in length on each side of the security screening lanes, making them the largest preserved garden installations in the world.

‍

Gardens @Transportation Hubs

“We are thrilled we are to expand the impact of our gardens in such a public location,” said GOTW’s Mine Hisim, Managing Partner. The BNA gardens are the first big installation in the firm’s new Gardens @Transportation Hubs initiative, in which the firm sees their biophilic creations being appreciated by wider audiences than ever before. “Seeing our biophilic installations, with the rejuvenation and serenity they bring, unbound by confined or private spaces is so rewarding for us. Our BNA installation will be seen by 70,000 passengers per day and 20 million per year, hopefully helping them to find peace and calmness – no small challenge at a busy transportation hub!”

‍

But it’s not just the intangible outputs of the gardens that is so special to the firm. “What is so unique about the scope of this project internally is that all 37 of our employees, in all departments, put their hearts and souls into it, to bring this concept to reality,” continued Hisim. “We are thrilled to have the established teamwork culture so vital to our performance, along with the advanced expertise and capability to execute such large and detailed scopes with such ease. We are thankful for each and every employee for their contribution,” said Hisim.

Bridging Art & Nature, Connecting People

The firm’s search for inspiration to define what Nashville and its airport mean to travelers led them to the bridges that connect the city and its outlying areas. The intricate design of the gardens’ preserved flora tells a story unique to Nashville and its airport, showcasing the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge, while also weaving in sound motifs of the music of Nashville and abstract representations of rivers and the rolling hills and valleys surrounding the city. Taken as a whole, the gardens – through a deeply layered and textured creation – give a sense of connections, flow, and rhythm  much like the Transportation Hubs which host a constant flow of people.

‍

“BNA Nashville Airport is a bridge to the rest of the world, to other airports near and far, connecting travelers, businesspeople, families, and friends. And now it is embellished with 2,065 square feet of preserved gardens. We’re so proud of this impact,” continued Hisim.

‍

Hisim also added that, “Our biophilic artwork is in all-natural green hues to signify the bucolic beauty of the remarkable area surrounding the city, as well as the commitment to biophilia and sustainability that connects us”. With biodiverse species in varying hues, layers, and textures, these expansive gardens comprise a wholly sustainable, all-natural installation from project takeoff to landing, requiring no maintenance along the way, nor any carbon offset either!
